Who requires a student visa?

UK immigration services also refer to visas as “entry clearance”.

Citizens of countries not listed below may not be required to obtain entry clearance to study in the UK, prior to arrival, Nationals not requiring prior clearance will still need to satisfy immigration services of their eligibility, upon arrival in the UK.

If you have any doubts, it is recommended to apply for visa before booking airline tickets.

Nationals of the following countries will required a visa to enter in UK.

What documents will be required?

Even if a visa will not be required, students should still be able to provide UK immigration with documentation explaining their stay a (a letter of acceptance, proof of funds etc.) Please check if your college or university is listed UCAS before applying visa http://www.ucas.ac.uk/students/choosingcourses/choosinguni/instguide/

The following documents may be required for visa applications:

Personal documents

  • Original certificates/degrees from secondary to onward
  • A completer photocopy set of education documents
  • Two recent passport size photographs
  • Admission letter from college
  • Pay order for BRITISH high Commission
  • Valid passport
  • Completed application form
  • Letter of acceptance
  • Experience letter
  • Evidence of accommodation arrangements for duration of trip
  • Letter of intent for post-course period (presentable upon arrival)

Sponsor’s documents:

  • Affidavit of financial support
  • Original bank statements and passbooks for the last six months
  • National Tax Number (NTN) certificate
  • Tax return for the last three financial years
  • Detail of business on letterhead
  • Annual income assessment
  • Visiting card

Time required issuing visa

Time to issue visa varies from country to country and case to case. Normally for Pakistan it takes 3 to 4 weeks. Contact nearest consulate for further information.

  Apply two to three months before you intend to travel. The period from September to January is especially busy for the visa office, so make sure you apply well in advance.

 How do I apply?

You will need to complete visa application form IM2A and IM2S. You can also get the forms from your nearest UK overseas Mission where there is visa section. You should check with your nearest British mission whether they can deal with your application. If they can not they will let you know where to apply?

  Applications may be made to the visa section of a British mission in person or in some instance by post, Please contact your nearest British mission to enquire about postal application. What is the cost of visa?
