Girls shine in Malakand board SSC exams
TIMERGARA: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Malakand, on Saturday announced results of the secondary school certificate (SSC) examinations 2016 during a ceremony held at the board’s auditorium.
Ms Nazneen Wahid of Malakand Public School, Dargai, topped the overall board examinations by securing 1,016 marks, while Mohammad Suleman of Allama Iqbal Model School, Sakhakot, stood second with 1,011 marks. Ms Aimen Khan of the University Public School, Chakdara, and Ms Palwasha Munir of the Malakand Public School, Dargai, shared third position with 1,010 marks.
Provincial finance minister Muzaffar Said was chief guest on the occasion.

The function was attended by top 20 position-holders, their parents, teachers and elders of the area. MPA Bakht Baidar and board chairman Prof Shaukat Ali were also present on the occasion.
In humanities group, Ms Husna Rehman of government girls higher secondary school, Samar Bagh, bagged 918 marks, Ms Seema Bibi of the same school 917 marks and a private girl student from Lower Dir Ms Saeeda Bahadar secured 915 marks and stood first, second and third respectively.
Controller of examinations Prof Jamil Ahmad said that a total of 80,337 candidates appeared in the examinations of which 59,994 were declared successful, showing pass percentage of 74.67. In grade 9th, a total of 41,634 candidates appeared in the exams of which 29,497 were declared pass.
Mr Said, Mr Baidar and the board chairman distributed shields and medals among the position-holder students.
Speaking on the occasion, the finance minister said the provincial government had cut budget for infrastructure development and increased the allocations for education and health sectors. The board management issued copies of the gazette book to all the educational institutions in Lower Dir, Upper Dir and Malakand Agency.
TEACHERS DEMAND: All Teachers Coordination Council’s provincial president Mohammad Shah and representative of all subject specialists’ association Abdul Hamid Nasari have demanded approval of time scale formula and regularisation of ad hoc teachers.
Talking to mediapersons in Chakdara on Saturday, they said that the teachers would never allow any government to privatise education in the province. They said they were not opposed to the teachers’ assessment at any stage, but the process of assessment should be started from high-ups like the education minister, secretary education and others.
Meanwhile, Malakand University Teachers Association on Saturday distributed Ramazan packages among class-IV employees of the varsity. The association’s president Salman Zeb told mediapersons on the occasion that every Muslim should help the poor and needy people in Ramazan.
He said the university administration should also announce special Eid package and special allowance for deserving employees of the varsity.
