Parents, children demand early summer vacations
Islamabad - Students and parents demanded the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to announce summer vacations earlier for federal public educational institutions due to the scorching heat.
The weather has become unbearable for school going children, as many of them were suffering from heat-related ailments.
They were not able to focus on their studies during exams owing to prolonged power outage, which reduced their stamina and disrupted their sleep.
“Several children faint during the assembly and classes due to the persistent hot weather,” said a local college instructor, Qasim.
The authorities must announce vacations before the arrival of the holy month of Ramzan to protect the children from the heat, he added.
A concerned parent, Shahida said: “I am sending my children to school for their classes.
They are completely exhausted due to the intense heat.
”
“Classrooms do not have generators or Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) and load shedding during school hours pose a serious health threat for my children, she declared.
Shahida urged the FDE to announce vacations soon, so that students could be relieved of their tough routine.
When contacted an official of the FDE told this agency that the decision would be taken by the ministry of CADD for the the summer vacations.
It was now upto the ministry to announce summer vacations, he added.
According to weather experts, the current heat wave would be continued from mid of May to mid of July.
