Campaign to stop fake enrolment in PEF partner-schools
A campaign, being kick-started to stop fake enrolment in partner-schools of the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), is to ensure that most genuine and needy students benefit from the public-private-partnership-based programmes of free education. The foundation push comes following orders by its Managing Director, Tariq Mahmood. He and various programme directors have made surprise inspections of the partner-schools in districts during the past three days to check records and enrolment data.
It was divulged during the inspections that payment was being received by some schools against the fake enrolment of 34 students. Managing Director Mahmood has ordered strict action against slackness and made it clear that "no forgery will be tolerated and a high-standard transparency will be ensured at every cost". He said on Monday, "The foundation is the best model of providing free education to needy children which has enabled millions of students to improve their lives through education."
