Women education is indispensible for development: minister
ISLAMABAD - Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on Wednesday said that women education was imperative for the national progress and development in the world.
While addressing the seminar regarding Women Day held here at Islamabad Model College for Girls G-6/1, he said that Islam had given maximum rights to women and they had been playing pivotal role for bringing change in the society right from the beginning of the Islam. Referring to the role of women in the Pakistan movement 1947, he said, “Our nation can compete with the world by making these women an example.”
The minister further said that women role in the society was very important as they were more than 50 per cent of the population, adding that It was not wise to leave half of the population un-utilised in national development pursuits. The federal government was making all efforts for women empowerment, he said, adding that the women protection bill passed by the Punjab assembly was an example in this regard.
He hoped that the other provinces would also take necessary steps for the women rights. The bill would provide safety to the women in the society and those working in the different institutions, he said. He further said that the journey of progress would continue through Prime Minister’s Education Reforms Programme.
The minister said that the government had brought five special education institutions of the capital under the ministry of CA&DD through capital education reforms programme, adding that five new buses had also been granted to these institutions for students with disabilities.
“We are inducting more teachers according to the need of the institutions and their training was also underway so that they can enable their students to face the challenges and cope with the changes in the world,” the minister said.
He said that the standard of education in public schools would be improved to reduce the gap between public and private educational institutions, adding that a building had been allocated to the curriculum wing aiming at modernising the curriculum of the educational institutions according to the need of the hour.
The minister said that he was especially thankful to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for paying special attention to the schools of the capital. Later on, he also distributed shields among the distinguished students.
