RAWALPINDI: Three more cases of unlawful appointments in the Rawalpindi education department have been unearthed. According to sources in the education department, three fake women teachers have been hired for a high school for boys.

Earlier appointment of 50 fake teachers in the education department in Kallar Syedan was detected. The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) is already investigating the case.

The Express Tribune has learnt that the department came to know about the appointments of the three teachers at the Government Boys High School Khyaban-e-Sir Syed, Sector-IV, last Tuesday.

Executive District Officer (EDO) Qazi Zahoorul Haq has launched an inquiry into the bogus appointments, an official in the education department on condition of anonymity said.

The official added that the EDO had directed deputy district officer for secondary schools (male) Shafaqatur Rehman to conduct the inquiry into the hiring of two secondary school teachers for Urdu and one elementary school teacher for the boys school.

The official said that the appointment letters for the three teachers had been issued with signatures of EDO Education. The EDO, however, claimed that his signatures had been forged, the official said.

Two out of the three female teachers had been identified as Sania and Sadia, both Urdu teachers. The identity of the third has yet to be ascertained.

The official said this was the second case of bogus appointments of teachers, and that the EDO had decided to verify all appointments of teachers in Rawalpindi since 2012.

Muhammad Riaz, a clerk at the department, is said to be the main suspect in the case.

When contacted, the EDO and District Coordination Officer Sajid Zafar Dal were both unavailable for comment.
