18 special edu schools without security
Around 18 schools of the Special Education Department in Lahore are operating without proper security due to shortage of funds, exposing the students to various dangers.
A source said that security of special institutes could not be made foolproof as the Special Education Department has not released funds for purchasing equipment and other gadgets for the security.
An official said on the condition of anonymity that the Special Education Department had sought Rs7.5 million from the provincial finance ministry for making arrangements for the security of 18 special schools. However, they have got no response so far.
The official said around Rs4.5 million would be required for purchasing walk-through gates, while rest of the amount would be required for purchasing CCTV cameras, equipment and hiring of security guards. He said that the students are vulnerable to several threats in the absence of missing security facilities.
