HITEC confers degrees on 752 students
islamabad - As many as 752 graduates of Heavy Industries Taxila Education City (HITEC) University were awarded Undergrad, MS and PhD degrees in its second convocation yesterday here in the Convention Centre Islamabad.
HITEC is proud of its success to have graduated 1543 professionals till January 2016 in the discipline of Engineering and Sciences in Undergrad Programmes and Post Grad Programmes till Ph. D level.
It was indeed a very prestigious moment for the Vice Chancellor, Brig. Qamar Zaman, to confer Ph.D degrees on three successful candidates of the university from Mathematics Department, who were supervised by the Dean of Sciences Prof. Dr Syed Tauseef Mohyuddin.
The successful Ph.Ds are Dr Muhammad Shakeel, Dr Qazi Mehmood ul Hassan and Dr Jamshad Ahmad. MS degrees were awarded to 135 qualified students while Undergrad degrees to 614 students from the fields of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration and Islamic Studies.
Gold Medals for undergraduate Engineering Students were awarded to Engr. Rabia Tabassum, Engr. Zeeshan Aslam, Engr. Shahbaz Ali Khan, Engr. Ammad Fazil and Gold Medals for MS Engineering Program were awarded to Engr. Zahid Murtaza & Engr. Muhammad Shahzad.
“It is an honour for HITEC that its graduates are successfully playing their role in transforming Pakistan into a technologically progressive state and are employed in leading organisations in Pakistan and overseas,” the VC said. The
HITEC University is the hallmark of education in Taxila. Spread over an area of more than 50 acres, HITEC University is located at the foot of Margalla Hills only 2 km from Taxila city and 30 km North West of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is an integrated and purpose specific complex, housing educational institutes, catering for pre-school to university level education.
HITEC University started in 2007 with an intake of 250 students in affiliation with UET Taxila. Within a short span of two years, it was granted its own charter in November, 2009 by the Government of the Punjab. The University is sponsored by Heavy Industries Taxila Education Welfare Trust (HITEWT). Ranked in category “W” by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, HITEC University is Pakistan’s premier academic and research institution.
The University has educational linkages with leading Universities like Strathclyde University of UK, Istanbul Technical University of Turkey and University Teknologi of Malaysia. This collaboration is to give an opportunity to the students and faculty for higher education and research collaboration.
It was informed that HITEC University is now transforming into an Outcome Based Education center and aligning its academic programs with the requirement of Washington Accord. Consequently, its degrees would be reckoned as substantially equivalent to the degrees awarded in the U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.
