Completion of security arrangements ordered

Rawalpindi - The district government yesterday ordered heads of the educational institutions to complete security arrangements to secure lives of students.

The police and other law enforcement agencies have been put on high alert and would definitely tackle any possible terror attack on any educational institution in the division.
“The heads of all the educational institutions should complete security arrangements till January 28 (Thursday) or else all the educational institutions will be closed which do not make security arrangements,” Acting Commissioner Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Dall stated this during a high-level meeting here.

The meeting was attended by attended by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja, City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, District Police Officers (DPOs) and District Coordination Officers (DCOs) of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal, SDPOs, Executive District Officer (EDO) Education Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq, assistant commissioners, the officials of intelligence agencies and head of schools, colleges and universities.

Addressing the meeting, Acting Commissioner Sajid Zafar Dall said that all departments were following the directions of the government to maintain law and order situation in the country and it was also made mandatory for the heads of educational institutions to enhance security to avoid any attack.
He told that Chief Minister Punjab also stressed for obeying the SOP issued for guarding schools and colleges in the division.

He said that various teams have been conducting surveys of the colleges, schools and universities located in Jhelum, Attock and Chakwal and sharing the loopholes in security with the administrations of the educational institutions.

RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja, speaking on the occasion, said that one should be alert for fighting the enemies as a little negligence could prove fatal.
He informed that several police teams were constituted to check the height of boundary walls of educational institutions upto 8 feet and erection of barbwires over, establishment of watch towers, CCTV cameras and walk through gates, deployment of security guards and setting up of control rooms.
“The heads of schools and colleges should also bring all the masons and labourers under security scanner so that affective security measures can be made sure,” RPO said.

CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi briefed the meeting that the three-day training course of all security guards, who would guard the educational institutions have been started at the Police Line.
The DCOs and DPOs also briefed the attendees of meeting about security status of the educational institutions of their areas.
