PEF SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ BOARD REGISTRATION, EXAM FEE WAIVED OFF
Friday, January 15, 2016 - Lahore—The Punjab Government has waived the Board registration and examination fee off for the students enrolled in secondary schools partnering with Punjab Education Foundation in 9th and 10th classes. This step will benefit the 1.9 million needy students of PEF partner schools who mostly belong to the low income families.
The Higher Education Department has issued a departmental notification in this regard.
This decision has been taken on a summary moved by the Chairman, Punjab Education Foundation, Engr. Qamar ul Islam Raja to the Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for extending this facility to the foundation also, as it is engaged in providing free quality education to the children of most disfranchised segments of the society. After approval of the Chief Minister, formal notification has been issued.
Now, Punjab Education Foundation will provide lists of its secondary level students to the concerned boards of intermediate and secondary education in the Punjab who will provide free registration facility as well as exempting the students from examination fee.
Chairman PEF, Qamar ul Islam, in a statement issued here today, has welcomed the decision and termed it as another ‘education–friendly’ initiative of the Punjab government which will directly benefit the penurious strata. After assuming the charge of the post of Chairman PEF, I was approached by scores of parents and school partners who requested to extend this facility to the PEF beneficiaries. I am thankful to the Chief Minister Punjab as this waiver will further benefit and facilitate our students, he concluded.
