US varsities keen to ink accord with NUML
ISLAMABAD: US State Department is keen to extend bilateral relations in the field of education to promote higher education studies in Pakistan, University Partnerships Coordinator for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Boyum said on Thursday.
In his visit to National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Richard Boyum said that his prime job is to enhance coordination among the varsities of both the countries.
He said, “NUML is the top most university of the country in the field of language teaching and US educational institutes are eager to sign partnership programmes with NUML.”
He further said that the on going NUML-UNT (University of North Texas) partnership programme is part of that collaboration. He ensured NUML rector that such partnership programmes for students and faculty will be continued with others varsities of US.
While speaking on the occasion, NUML Rector Major General Ziaud Din Najam briefed the guest about the university and informed regarding ongoing projects of the NUML with US educational institutes. NUML rector lauded the role of US Embassy in promoting quality education in Pakistan especially in higher education and research studies. He was of the view that Pak-US cooperation in the field of higher education will help both the nations to understand each other and this can help to bridging the gap between masses. He thanked Richard Boyum for visiting NUML and presented a NUML memento to him.
NUML Registrar Brig (r) Aminullah Khan, Academics Director Col (r) Javaid Ahmed, Regional English Language Officer Jen Mac Arther, English Language Coordinator Abdul Majeed and US Embassy Cultural Affairs Specialist Natiqa Nadeem also attended the meeting.
