Teacher-training workshop: ‘UK committed to improve education in Pakistan’
ISLAMABAD: British High Commission hosted a teacher-training workshop on Tuesday aimed at familiarising teachers with modern teaching techniques and helping them to develop innovative curriculums.
The event was organised at the request of the Oxford University Press to introduce new textbooks, the workshop was designed to improve the overall standard of teaching in Pakistan. The British High Commissioner to Pakistan Philip Barton attended the event as the guest of honour and distributed certificates to the participants in the workshop.
While speaking about the initiative, the British High Commissioner said, “I firmly believe that one issue that has the potential to transform Pakistan’s future is improved education. The UK government is strongly committed to help towards improving the standard and availability of education across Pakistan. Together we can raise the quality of education; improve academic results; increase teacher and student attendance; boost school facilities and support the low cost private education sector.
He said, “It is a pleasure to host this workshop in the British High Commission at the request of the Oxford University Press of Pakistan. It is heartening to see British companies contributing to the advancement and development of the education sector in Pakistan. In this age of digital development, teacher-training workshops are an important tool in raising the knowledge and skills of schoolteachers.
“I thank the Oxford University Press for their efforts to provide teacher-training workshops to help improve education standards across Pakistan,” he added.
