Higher education: Interview for VCs at 4 varsities from Jan 17
LAHORE: The VC Search Committee will start interviewing candidates for the top slots of four universities from January 17.
The universities are the Punjab University (PU), the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), the University of Sargodha (UoS) and the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology (MNS-UET) Multan, a Higher Education Department (HED) official told The Express Tribune on Monday.
He said that the committee would shortlist and interview 109 candidates. It will then recommend the names of the selected candidates to the provincial government. The chief minister will finalise the names and send these to the governor’s office for his approval. The chancellor/governor’s office will issue the notification of the selected candidates.
The official said he could not give an exact date for the appointments. “The process will start on January 17… it will take some time until the names are finalised.”
Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Pro Chancellor Syed Babar Ali is convener of the five-member committee. Its other members are Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Nizamuddin, HED Secretary Irfan Ali and Zafar Iqbal Qureshi. The HED had sought applications for the appointment of VCs at the four universities through an advertisement on November 4.
