Education institutes raise awareness on corruption
LAHORE: Educational institutions marked the International Anti-Corruption Day by organising seminars and walks on Thursday. Virtual University of Pakistan organised a seminar at its MA Jinnah Campus, which was addressed by VU Rector Dr Naveed Malik and columnists Dr Ajmal Niazi, Rauf Tahir, Sajjad Mir and Dr Mehdi Hassan.
The objective of the event was to raise awareness among masses about ill effects of corruption and corrupt practices. It also aimed at active involvement of all stakeholders for combating this menace that has unfortunately permeated into different segments of the society.
Dr Mehdi Hassan was of the view that the country would have to cap those cavities where the virus of corruption nourished. He emphasised proper planning and strictly implemented policies with public support, which can put a halt to this growing menace.
Sajid Nadeem summed up the discussion by stressing the need to sensitise all segments of the society about the negative effects of corruption and ways and means to overcome it.
In his address, Dr Naveed A Malik stressed the need of creating awareness among the people in order to kill corruption at grassroots level.
