Peshawar—Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan said that education is indispensible for achieving a respectable position among comity of nation and inducing development and prosperity in the society.

Addressing 9th Convocation of Gomal University as a chief guest at D.I.Khan, the Governor urged the youth to play a constructive role in development of country. He said that militancy, lawlessness, despondency and deprivations were not the destiny of our next generation; rather they need favorable environment for a better future. He said that government is making concerted efforts to secure the future of our children.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Gomal University in continuing educational activities during unfavorable conditions adding that the varsity was established with a purpose to promote education in southern districts.

Governor also announced endowment fund of Rs.10 million for the tribal students studying in the varsity and said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also released a handsome amount of one billion rupees for the Gomal University.

KP Governor also announced Rs.50,000 for tribal students who got gold medal in their respective field of education and allocation of five seats for tribal students in each department of the varsity.

In the ceremony 150 gold medals and 25 PhD degrees were awarded among the students. The ceremony was also attended by high ranking civil and military officials, academicians besides students and their parents.

Meanwhile, Governor also visited and addressed District Bar Association D.I.Khan.
