Quaid’s principles, Iqbal ideology key to success: Commander
Corps Commander Lt-Gen Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad has said that besides quality education, good training is equally important.
Addressing the participants of an annual prize distribution ceremony here at Army Public School and College - Multan Garrison Education System on Wednesday, he stressed upon the students to apply the golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam and ideology of Allama Iqbal in their lives to achieve success. He said that the protection of homeland is our joint responsibility but the martyrs surpassed all of us in discharging this sacred duty. He said that we could achieve tremendous successes in our lives by following in the footsteps of the martyrs. The Corps Commander appreciated the performance and services of Army Public School and College - Multan Garrison Education System and hoped that the institution would produce even better results in future.
Earlier, the students presented tableaus and sang national songs. Later on, the Corps Commander distributed prizes among position holder students.
MPHIL, PHD SARAIKI SYLLABUS, OTHER COURSES OKAYED: The Academic Council of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) approved MPhil and PhD Saraiki syllabus besides many other courses in a meeting held here on Wednesday. The proceedings were chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr Tahir Ameen. The Council also approved launching of BSc Economics and Finance as well as BS Development Studies at School of Economics. The participants of the meeting also approved post graduate diploma courses, minutes of board of studies meetings held by different department, uniform semester rules for MA, MSc and BS Four Year programmes at affiliated colleges.
Speaking on this occasion, the VC stressed the need for promoting unity and mental harmony among the university staff. “We should resolve all academic issues with joint efforts so that the varsity moves on the ranking table,” he noted. He said that the BZU teachers possessed impressive intelligence and skills, asking them to use their talent for positive activities.
SECTION 144 IMPOSED: DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal enforced on Wednesday Section 144 and imposed ban on display of arms and bringing out rallies. The district administration sources said that the ban was imposed on direction of Punjab Government in view of upcoming local government elections for one month. The display of any arms including licensed ones, gathering of five or more people and celebrations after winning the election will not be permitted and legal action will be invoked against those violating these bans.
SEED COTTON (PHUTTI): The arrival of seed cotton (phutti) at ginning factories has observed a 23.17 decline during the last fortnight (Nov. 1 to 15), disclosed cotton arrival date released by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here on Wednesday. The figures show that over 8,019,613 bales of cotton have reached the ginneries across Pakistan till November 15th compared to 1,04,38,073 bales received by the ginning factories during corresponding period last year.
The PCGA data revealed that 8.019 million bales of seed cotton have been converted into finished bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 4,653,857 bales with 33.38 per cent decrease.
Similarly, the ginning factories in Sindh recorded arrival of 3,365,756 bales while last year Sindh received 3,452,860 bales which is merely 2.52 % less than last year.
Textile mills have bought 5,518,065 bales while exporters bought 337,955 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 5,861,220 bales. Multan received 104,443 bales 66.01 percent short than last year, Lodhran 73,343 bales 62.77. % short, Khanewal 3,337,938 bales 53.97 % short, Muzaffargarh 2,08,325 bales a decrease of 42.42 %, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,57,187, a decrease of 25.30 Rajanpur 3,74,971 bales, 15.57 % decrease,Layyah 2,04,663 , 23.15 % less , Vehari 2,87,513 bales 54.75 % less, Sahiwal 2,19,379 bales 51.87 % less than last year, Pakpattan 64,601 bales 58.98 % less, Okara 21,365 - 49.18 % less,Qasur 11,376 - 39.33 .% less,Toba Tek Singh 1,18,013 bales, Faisalabad 43,370 bales, Jhang 40,561 Mianwali 2,12,373, Bhakkar 65,037 Sargodha 10,900 , Rahimyar Khan 832,696 bales 11.96 % increase , Bahawalpur 5,89,899,and Bahawalnagar 5,72,903 bales. In Sindh: Hyderabad 2,41,570 bales 2.98 % less than last year,Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,67.901 bales 29.45 % less, Sangarh ,12,72,579 bales 8.52 % decrease, Nawabshah 2,89,644 bales, Naushero Feroze 2,23,915 bales, Jamshoro 1,30,783 bales ,Badeen 31,600 bales and Baluchistan 54,591 bales.
