World Education Games : Pakistani students win five gold medals
LAHORE: Pakistani students shined at the World Education Games (WEG) by winning five gold medals in different categories, including the World Maths Cup 2015.
The students have beaten their competitors from 120 countries in the WEG, which was organised by 3P Learning in Pakistan.
The successful students include Sarah of Class I, Zeeshan of Class II, Abeeha of Class IV, Eeman of Class VII and Ali Saud of Class IX. The winning students, along with their parents, were awarded medals in a ceremony held at the Sydney Opera House, Australia. World Education Games is a bi-annual contest, where students from different parts of the world participate in categories of mathletics, spellodrome or into-science.
More than 29,000 students from 147 schools across Pakistan participated in the WEG, which was an online gaming competition featuring educational games. 45 students won certificates on the basis of the points they earned, while 20 students got double certificates as they scored higher than other students in two different subjects.
3P Learning Programme Manager Iffat Ahmar on occasion said that these children had not only made their parents proud but they have also contributed in promoting the soft image of Pakistan. She was of the view that these students have proved that there is enough talent in our country.
Sarah Rashid, winner, told Daily Times that it was all the struggle and hard work of her parents and teachers who motivated and taught her. She said that learning with the use of computer and technology has helped her to achieve this goal.
Mother of another winning student, Ali Saud, said that she always wanted to see her child excel in studies but she never knew that Ali's gaming experience would lead him to win a medal in a world event. She was thankful to 3P Learning for providing a platform to the students of Pakistan.
