Tuesday, November 17, 2015 - Peshawar—Provincial Education Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Atif Khan will formally inaugurate the newly prepared football pitch in Sanga Tehsil, Mardan on November 19.

This was stated by Ali Khayam, Programme Manager Right to Play while talking to APP here on Monday.

He said rehabilitation of the pitch is part of Generation Amazing, a programme of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy of Qatar.

He said Right to Play is strategic partner to implement the program. The pitch, he said, will provide a safe platform for the children and youth of Mardan to play football.

He said, Football is a popular sport among local youth of Mardan. Officials of District Football Association, District Education Department, local athletes and large number of children and youth attended the ceremony, he disclosed.

Atif Khan, provincial Education Minister will officially inaugurate the football ground which is located in Sanga village of Takht Bhai in Mardan. “We thank Generation Amazing and Right To Play to investing in the future of children and youth of Mardan through this football pitch.”

Ali Gohar, Chairman District Football Association Mardan said when contacted. “This pitch will certainly empower the local youth to engage in healthy activities. This must be a memorable day for the youth of Mardan that they have been awarded with an amazing gift of football ground”, he added.

Generation Amazing started its second phase in Mardan, early 2015 and is including over 2000 youth in Football for Development programs on a regular basis.

He said, over 50 percent of the participants are girls, in its first phase, the program selected two youth from Mardan as its Youth Ambassadors they are now active leaders in community.

Besides Mardan, Generation Amazing project is also working in the communities of Lyari and Thatta in Pakistan, reaching over 6000 children and youth through training and coaches Youth leaders.—APP
