International Education Week starts
LAHORE: The 16th International Education Week (IEW) kicked off on Saturday. An EducationUSA Lahore Fun Fair was arranged on the occasion to help students with disabilities.
United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) EducationUSA advising manager Umair Khan said the funds raised during the fair would be donated to an NGO working for the students with disabilities. He said the fair was designed for the youth from diverse backgrounds. He said the event was part of a series of events organised in connection with the IEW.
Khan said schools from all over Lahore participated in the event visited by more than 100 families visited. He said stalls of bake sale items, face painting, caricatures and games were part of the fair.
Khan said the IEW was an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and cultural exchange programmes. He said it was a joint initiative of the US Department of State and the US Department of Education. The IEW was part of the effort to promote global learning programmes, he said.
Khan said the launch of EducationUSA Pakistan Alumni Network – the first US graduate alumni network – and a ceremony to celebrate high achievers would be held during the week.
An event called the Alumni Connect would be arranged in which 50 members would get an opportunity to connect with fellow US alumni and professionals.
