CM okays IT varsity in Knowledge Park

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting yesterday, which reviewed different matters relating to Lahore Knowledge Park Project.
Shahbaz Sharif gave approval to the setting up of Information Technology University in the Knowledge Park and issued instructions for submitting final recommendations about the establishment of another hi-tech university in the park.
Punjab government is implementing the project of information technology university with its own resources while it will also provide funds for the project of establishing another university. Punjab has allocated a sum of Rs.21 billion that will utilised on the project of knowledge park during next three years.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Lahore Knowledge Park would play an important role for the promotion of information technology on high quality education and other modern knowledge and project would prove to be a milestone in the promotion of education and research.
SWEDEN ENVOY CALLS ON CM: Ambassador of Sweden Tomas Rosander called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif yesterday and shared views on the matters of mutual interest, bilateral relations and promotion of cooperation in vocational education, skill development, industrial and other sectors.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted strong friendly relations between Pakistan and Sweden and stressed the need for taking effective measures for promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
He said that exchange of trade delegations would help in promotion of economic cooperation. Shahbaz Sharif informed the Ambassador about the focus Punjab is giving to skill development for empowerment of youth and thousands have been trained under a programme so far.
He said Sweden can extend cooperation in promotion of technical education and imparting of vocational training of youth. Swedish Ambassador assured that his government will continue cooperation with Pakistan especially Punjab in different sectors.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif telephoned Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Daud Oglo and congratulated him on the glorious success of Justice and Development Party in the parliamentary elections.
The chief minister expressed his heartfelt joy over the victory of Justice and Development Party in parliamentary in the Turkish elections and said that people of Pakistan particularly Punjab is happy over its win.
He expressed the hope the existing brotherly and economic relations between Pakistan and Turkey will further strengthen. Turkish Prime Minister in return, also congratulated Chief Minister Punjab over the splendid success of the PML-N in local bodies’ elections in Punjab and expressed good wishes for him.
