Conference on 'medical education' begins
A three-day international conference on "medical education" has begun at the University of Health Sciences on Thursday which includes 37 workshops on the first day in various public and private sector medical institutions. The Higher Education Commission, the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Punjab Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Medical Research Council and Pakistan Science Foundation have set up the conference with the theme titled "integrated curriculum for an un-integrated practice".
The Association for Medical Education in Europe and the Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research have endorsed the conference. Over 500 local and international health professionals, educationists, healthcare delivery providers, policy makers, medical students and allied health specialists are conferencing.
Thursday's workshops included "integrated assessment for simulation of skills: the possibilities and challenges", at the Akhtar Saeed Medical College and facilitated by Dr Gominda Ponnamperuma from Sri Lanka; "integrating professionalism at under and postgraduate level medical education" at the Allama Iqbal Medical College and assisted by Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Khan; "exercising ethics in clinical practice: mission impossible?", at the Ameer ud Din Medical College and assisted by Dr Faiza Ahmed and Dr Aamenah Malik.
