CADD MAKES TEACHERS AVAILABLE FOR SCHOOL WITHIN 40 MINUTES
Maryam Nawaz takes prompt action on PO story
Thursday, October 29, 2015 - Islamabad—For many, it may be just any ‘news’ but for 25 grade-9 students of the Model School for Girls, G-11/2, it meant more than that— a great source of relief and a ray of hope. By intervention of the Prime Minister’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif they were given what they had been desiring for months — teachers.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif known for her emphasis on girls’ education, Wednesday took prompt action on a news story published in Daily Pakistan Observer about absence of teachers of Maths, Computer Science, and Science subjects in a local school of Islamabad.
According to her close aide, MNA Marriyum Aurangzeb, Maryam Nawaz was so upset to read about the plight of the students that she did not wait to reach Pakistan and directed her from London to ensure that teachers will be taking classes in the said school by the morning of Thursday (today).
Talking to this scribe, Marriyum Aurangzeb revealed that CADD Secretary himself visited the Model School G-11/2 on Wednesday and confirmed that the school was without high class teachers, especially of science subjects. He was requested to move swiftly and a notification was issued regarding availability of teachers, one for each subject. The entire process was completed within 40 minutes. They (teachers) will be taking classes by tomorrow and from now onwards the students will be having their usual lessons without fail,” said Marriyum Aurangzeb.
Explaining the vision of Maryam Nawaz, Marriyum Aurangzeb said not only the school in question, but all the 400+ schools under the Federal Directorate of Education have been asked to provide details of the vacant posts and soon “we are going to initiate appointments on these posts.” Maryam Nawaz’s instructions are very clear: None of Islamabad schools should be without teachers or proper infrastructure. All the schools will be upgraded in terms of the quality of education and adequate facilities.
“The government has removed the Director General FDE, Dr Shahnaz A Riaz as matters were not being addressed,” she said adding, “A new Director General from Customs Service Group Moinuddin Ahmed Wani has replaced her. We hope that under the new administration things will improve.”
A teacher of the said school while talking to Pakistan Observer said, the students and teachers as well as principal, everybody was happy over the quick action by Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Mrs Zafar, mother of a grade-9 student expressed her feelings in the following words “Our joy knows no bounds after receiving the news. Matriculation is a formative phase in the life of a student and having no teacher during this crucial period was a matter of concern for us all. We were left with no option but to send our daughters to private academies but they are very expensive.”
“We are grateful to Maryam Nawaz Sharif and hope she would visit the school and see for herself how pleased the students are on having teachers and resuming their studies”, she wished.
