Musical chairs: FDE head transferred once again
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Director-General Shahnaz Riaz on Tuesday was removed from her post for the sixth time since 2010.
Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has transferred Riaz and replaced her with Moinuddin Ahmad Wani, a senior customs officer from the Federal Board of Revenue. A notification to this effect was issued by the Establishment Division on Tuesday. Wani is brother of the Prime Minister’s (PM) Press Secretary on Media Coordination Mohiuddin Wani.
The FDE has witnessed the arrival and departure of heads for the eighth time in a little over two years. This has affected the management of schools and college education in the capital.
Riaz has been transferred to National Institute of Science and Technical Education as its deputy director general.
The decision to transfer Riaz was taken on Monday at CADD where CADD Joint Secretary Ayesha Farooq was appointed the focal person for the FDE. CADD Secretary Khalid Hanif said Farooq was appointed following the PM’s directive to activate the public relations offices in the ministries.
Another official told The Express Tribune that Farooq will also look after FDE’s development projects and coordinate with the PM Office.
The CADD is working on a plan to up-grade all 422 schools and colleges in the capital, a project spanning over three years.
