DEGREES TO BE ISSUED TO 2500 COMSATS STUDENTS
Monday, October 26, 2015 - Islamabad—The implementation on unanimous decisions of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Senate Standing Committee on Science & Technology and Federal Education & Trainings should be ensured without any further delay through awarding dual degrees to 2532 students under joint program of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology and Lancaster program .It was demanded by the representatives of students’ organizations through a joint statement on Sunday.
Central President General AnjumanTulba Islam (ATI) Akif Tahir, Central Secretary General Mr. Mr.Rehan Tahir and Secretary Information ATI Syed Waqar Shah through a joint statement stated that due to efforts of Chairman & members of Public Accounts Committee and Chairpersons Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology & Federal Education and Trainings, the issue of award of dual degree had been resolved and in spite of clear instructions by PAC on 8th October 2015 to implement its decision within one week, it is lamentable that the unanimous decision could not implemented even passing more than fifteen days. They said if further delay was made in award of the degrees the students would have no option except to protest.
They further stated that Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology in its two meetings on 27th July and 18th August 2015 unanimously decided the award of dual degree to all the students enrolled for COMSATS-LANCASTER program. Later one this decision was also endorsed of Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Trainings. But some of the elements are creating hindrances on personal grounds in implementation of recommendations of standing committees.
They requested President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chairman Public Accounts Committee and Chairperson Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology & Federal Education and Trainings to take notice of this unnecessary delay in award of degrees to 2500 students.
