Chinese envoy exchanges views with teachers, students
FAISALABAD - Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, while terming Chinese and Pakistani as “Iron Friends” said that both countries are enjoying exemplary relationship.
He was chairing the teaching faculty and students at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) here on Saturday. UAF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan also spoke on the occasion. The ambassador said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be beneficial not only for Pakistan and China, but also for the people of whole region.
He said that the Karakoram highway, Karachi-Multan Motorway, Gwadar Port, and energy projects which were being completed with the cooperation of China, would help Pakistan pave way towards prosperity. Talking about energy, he said that Pakistan was facing severe shortage of energy which was engine for the economic development. However, China is launching projects to address the energy crisis, he added.
Talking about the Confucius, he said that if you want to know about Chinese, you must have to know about Confucius, the great philosopher in China. Ideas of Confucius advocated golden principles of life based on humanity, love and care for others and promotion of education. He said that Confucius live for 72 years. In his life period, he directly transformed the lives of 3,000 people, of whom, 72 emerged as active preachers. He said that China was excelling in every field of life owing to the education despite the fact it was the fifth largest country of the world’s population.
Talking about agriculture, he said that both countries were meeting the demands of food for the huge population. He said that food security was as important as the heaven. He stressed the need for getting benefit from each others’ experience and exploring more opportunity of agriculture and rural development.
UAF vice chancellor called for further cementing agricultural ties with China. He said that China was working on setting up agricultural zones that would bring prosperity in agriculture and rural development.
