PEF reiterates assistance to Cholistan schools
Bahawalpur- The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will continue support and assistance to 75 partner schools in Cholistan area of Bahawalpur division. The PEF assistance aims at providing quality education to students in this backwards.
Chairman, Punjab Education Foundation, Engr Qamarul Islam Raja stated this during inspection of various PEF partner schools in Cholistan on Wednesday. These schools were set up by the Cholistan Development Authority and adopted by the PEF to provide gratis education to students, mostly from the impecunious strata. He said that as a result of continued PEF support and patronage to the CDA, the number of students in the community schools has reached more than 5,600; adding that it has also encouraged girls education in the vast Cholistan desert where it is difficult for parents to send their tender-age children to far away schools for want of resources.
The foundation is committed to spread the light of knowledge in nook and corner of the province and it is satisfying that PEF is playing a leading role in education-promotion in the southern Punjab districts. He said that proposal of mobile schooling for nomad communities of Cholistan would also be considered to arrange free education for children of such communities.
He said that the PEF has arranged elaborate teachers training mechanism for the teachers of these schools so that students could get quality education.
Besides PEF additional director (south) Mazhar Abbas, CDA director (admin) Rana Shahid Nadeem and literacy assistant Mukhtar were also present on the occasion.
