28850 special students enrolled in Punjab special education institutions
LAHORE, Pakistan: A total of 28850 special students including 18546 male and 10304 female are enrolled in the institutions of Special Education in Punjab, the provincial minister for special education Asif Saeed Manhais said.
In a statement on Tuesday, the minister said that a total of 18546 hearing impaired students are enrolled in Punjab special education institutions, out of which 10410 are male while 6344 are female.
The minister said that out of 1972 visually impaired student, 1377 are male whereas 595 are female.
Likewise, physically disabled students include 1507 male and 600 female while mentally challenged students include 3341 male and 1280 female. Out of 2997 slow learners, 1813 are male and 1184 are female.
The minster for special education said that 399 students of other categories which consists of 117 male and 283 female are getting quality education and training in the rehabilitation centers, schools and colleges of special education Centers.
In addition, he said that the Educational and Physical Training Institutions of Special Education provided quality education and training to the special students so that they would be able to live in the society with respectable manners.
Saeed Manhais said that the Punjab government has taking keen interests to set up more educational and training centers for the betterment and rehabilitation of special children.
