1500 teachers put on anti-dengue campaign duty
Thursday, September 10, 2015 - Rawalpindi—Without paying any attention to falling standard of education in government run educational institutions, the Punjab government has withdrawn 1500 teachers from primary, middle and high schools and placed on duty in anti-Dengue campaign in Rawalpindi district.
According to reports, the education department has directed the Heads of government and semi government schools in Rawalpindi and Cantonment areas of Rawalpindi to ensure cleanliness to prevent the disease in the city.
They have also been asked to arrange Walks in respective areas to raise awareness against the disease. To make the awareness campaign a success, monitoring teams officials reach schools early in the morning to discuss strategy thus wasting several hours of the builders of the younger generation.
Parents of students have expressed their strong resentment over deployment of teachers on anti Dengue campaign duty and said as a result their children return home without any classes or home work.
They pointed out that they are unable to pay the high fees of private schools otherwise they would have preferred to shift their children where the education standard is somewhat better than government schools. They said that the number of students is falling in government run schools because of lack of interest on the part of the teachers on the one hand and on the other by placement of teachers on different types of duties like dengue campaign, census and election thus wasting the precious time of their children. —INP
