PEF launches ‘New School Programme’
Tuesday, September 08, 2015 - Lahore—Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched New School Program (NSP) to provide free quality education to the needy communities living in remote and far-flung areas. Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Engr. Qamar ul Islam Raja said this while talking to a delegation of NSP school partners at his office on Monday.
He said that this program has also benefitted to promote girls’ education in disfranchise communities. Girls’ education is helping the needy girls to change their lives through this fundamental right. He said that PEF is also ensuring that students get quality education, and for this purpose, teachers’ training programs are introduced to improve the quality of teaching.
The spread of education in remote areas has also helped the locals to improve their quality of life, he said. He told that agreements have been signed with seven different NGOs to open schools in their allocated districts on sites identified by School Education Department and verified by the foundation. NSP is a beneficial initiative which targets to help establish schooling infrastructure where government or private schools are scarce in number or totally unavailable, he further said.
Meanwhile, MD PEF Dr. Aneela Salman visited a PEF partner school on Multan Road today and planted a tree there. She also inspected an educational exhibition arranged by students to highlight the importance of green environment. While talking to the students, she said that students’ community should lend a helping hand in promoting green environment around them.
