SECP plans to hold investor education seminars at QAU
ISLAMABAD: Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and Quaid-e-Azam University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct investor education seminars for the enrolled students at the SECP headquarters in Islamabad.
This is part of the SECP’s investor education programme launched under the name Jamapunji. The event was attended by the SECP Chairman, Zafar Hijazi. The MoU was signed by Securities Markets Division Commissioner Akif Saeed and Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Dr Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah. School of Management Sciences Dean Ajmal Waheed, senior SECP officials and alumni of Qaid-e-Azam University were also present on the occasion.Under the MoU, the SECP will be holding seminars at Qaid-e-Azam University on a regular basis to impart knowledge to its students about the basics of savings, financial planning, investing and capital markets. Students will also learn about the Jamapunji web portal, which offers comprehensive information about Pakistan’s investment products, capital markets, insurance and the non-banking financial sectors to anyone who is interested in investing in Pakistan.
The Jamapunji web portal also has a mock trading platform that uses real-time prices provided by Karachi Stock Exchange. Using this feature, the SECP plans to hold contests between university students for performance of their respective stock portfolios over a specified period of time.
