Pfizer, CFMP sign MoU for GPs’ education
KARACHI:
Pfizer Pakistan Limited and College of Family Medicine Pakistan (CFMP) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to support sustained medical education of general practitioners (GPs).
By virtue of this collaboration, Pfizer Pakistan will support membership of CFMP affiliated with Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), United Kingdom for more than 170 GPs from across Pakistan. Pfizer will propose nominations and offer enrolment for various Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) for general physicians practicing in Pakistan in accordance with eligibility criteria prescribed by CFMP. Apart from programmes that are conducted in major cities, small towns will be reached through Distance Learning Programmes (DLPs), where GPs would learn remotely through the help of technology.
Every GP has to undergo a test to qualify for the next module. These training courses will include research methodology, ethics in medicine workshop and case scenarios, counselling skills and various other courses to enhance GPs’ skills to treat patient better. Country Manager of Pfizer Pakistan Dr Farid Khan said the company was making significant investments in continuing medical education for the physicians in Pakistan.
