‘Punjab govt to ensure 100pc enrollment by 2018’
Rawalpindi - Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Engineer Qamar ul Islam Raja has said that 27 per cent provincial budget was allocated for promotion of education in Punjab. “Reforms introduced in the education sector have brought an education revolution in the province and ensured equal access to educational facilities by the children belonging to different sections of the society.
These efforts have been recognised both locally as well as internationally,” he stated this while addressing a function held under the aegis of ILM Ideas in the federal capital on Thursday. “We are committed to ensure hundred per cent enrollment by 2018 for which “Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab” programme has already been launched,” he added. He said that Punjab government was focusing on ensuring merit, transparency and quality of education.
He said that there was competition across provinces in improving education standard. It was good to note that as a result of concerted efforts, education has become priority agenda for the parents as it will help alleviate poverty. He said that attendance in schools has gone up from 67 per cent to over 90 per cent in Punjab through proactive use of information and communication technologies.
