Can ECED address educational woes at primary level?
ISLAMABD: State Minister for Education Balighur Rehman on Wednesday informed United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Director Education Natasha about several projects being initiated by the ministry including the National Education policy 2009 and the National Curriculum Council.
Baligh also talked about Academy of Educational Planning and Management (AEPAM) working on Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED). “I want to see this institute as a best institute of the country which can create awareness among parents about the importance of early childhood education”, he maintained.
He said the AEPAM would be educating the masses about when should they send their children to school and what is the minimum level of education that needs to be attained by a child. Moreover, the AEPAM would also be working on the development of ECED curriculum.
The minister welcomed the USAID team and told them about the projects undertaken by the government including National Curriculum Council, revision of national education policy 2009 and establishing vocation and technical training schools throughout the country. USAID director education admired the efforts of the current government regarding the education sector and showed a keen interest in working with the federal government in order to improve education standards in Pakistan. She told the minister that the USAID is very much eager to participate in the upcoming 6th Inter Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference (IPEMC) which is going to be held next week in the capital.
She said, “It would be a great opportunity and honour for us to present at such a platform where we would not just be able to interact with all the provinces but would also be able to assess the current scenario of the education sector in the country.”
She also thanked the minister for his hospitality
and commitment to improve the educational standards
in Pakistan.
