Govt decides to open literacy centres in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: A decision has been taken to open literacy centres in remote and backward areas of Rawalpindi District to achieve 100 percent literacy rate target. Village Education Committees comprising khateebs of local mosques, numberdars and social dignitaries are being set up for monitoring these centres. Literacy Department Project director Zohaib Asghar, Literacy Officer Rana Saleem and District Training Officer Anwar said that 170 non formal basic education schools and 180 literacy centres have been set up and 25 centres have been established in Adiala jail to educate and impart skills to prisoners therein.
