ISLAMABAD:
While urging universities to phase out obsolete curriculum, President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the new generation should be equipped with modern knowledge to cope with challenges of the contemporary world.
He was speaking at the 39th convocation of the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (Fast-NU) here on Monday. The president said education was vital for development and the country could achieve the goal of prosperity through modern and research-based education.
He said Pakistan has embarked on a journey to prosperity with the launch of several mega projects including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that comprise a network of motorways, an airport and road infrastructure development.
Mamoon urged students to prepare themselves to take maximum benefit from the potential of the CPEC project and urged universities to contribute their input into the national agenda.
He said that corruption has negatively impacted society and the education sector was no exception.
The president called for social boycott of the people involved incorrupt practices.
He felicitated the graduating students and urged them to utilise their knowledge in the best interest of the country.
He said only hard work and determination will lead them towards success. He advised students to express their gratitude to teachers and parents for their selfless support.
