Minister sees betterment thru Knowledge Park

LAHORE - Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that the Knowledge Park being set up in Lahore will open new vistas of development and economic prosperity.
He said this while talking during the third meeting of board of directors of Lahore Knowledge Park Company on Tuesday. He said that campuses of prestigious local and foreign educational institutions would be set up in this knowledge park.
Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Nizam-ud-Din, PCTB Chairman Lt Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram, Lahore University of Management Sciences Vice Chancellor Sohail Naqvi, Almas Haider, Chief Executive Officer PBIT Muhammad Ilyas Ghauri, Secretary Higher Education Iram Bukhari, CEO Lahore Knowledge Park Company Shahid Khan and other concerned officials attended the meeting. The education minister said that Punjab government had taken lead over all provinces by allocating 27 percent budget for education. He said that quality and higher education is the key to development and economic prosperity and establishment of Knowledge Park will prove a milestone for achieving this purpose.
Rana Mashhood said that knowledge parks play an important role in the development of any country. He said that due to the Knowledge Park at Lahore opportunities would be available to the students for getting education at renowned international universities.
He said that provision of quality education was an effective weapon for coping with challenges being faced by the country and government was taking a number of steps for this purpose. The minister directed that steps should be taken for completing Lahore Knowledge Park project at the earliest.
Board of Directors of Knowledge Park also gave approval to the heads of various committees. Vice Chancellor LUMS Sohail Naqvi will be head of HR Committee, Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram of Procurement Committee while Razzaq Dawood of Technical Committee.
Later, Rana Mashhood while presiding over a meeting of overseas Pakistanis of district Lahore said that overseas Pakistanis are our ambassadors. He said that all possible steps are being taken for solving their problems.
He said that due to the efforts of the government the problem of overseas Pakistanis are being resolved on priority basis and the role of overseas Pakistanis Commission is commendable in this regard. He also lauded the role of police for resolving problems of overseas Pakistanis.
