Secure future: Two seats recommended for APS students at UET

PESHAWAR:
Two seats at University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar have been recommended for survivors of the Army Public School (APS) massacre.
This was stated in a handout issued by the university’s directorate of media and publications on Tuesday. According to the statement, the proposal was made during the 66th meeting of the varsity’s academic council held in the provincial capital. The meeting was chaired by UET Peshawar Vice Chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani.
“The varsity administrations and faculty members unanimously recommended seats for APS students for the approval of the syndicate,” read the handout. “They threw their weight behind the government’s efforts to eradicate militancy from the country.”
According to the statement, the seats will be allocated under the education package for APS students.
“One seat will be allocated in the civil engineering department while another will be in the electrical engineering department,” read the handout.
“UET will provide free education to students who will be enrolled on these two seats. This is a 15-year scheme which will continue till 2030.”
On December 16, 151 people, including 132 children, were killed during a barbaric attack on APS on Warsak Road.
