‘CADD revised education policy to improve quality’

ISLAMABAD: State minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Barrister Usman Ibrahim revealed in Senate that the ministry has revised the education policy for improving the quality of education in the federal capital.
In a written reply to a question raised by Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, the minister stated that the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) had been revising the policies according to the needs of teachers as well as students with the passage of time enabling them to cope with rising challenges in the education sector.
He further explained that in the face of these challenges the FDE had appointed 685 English teachers. They were hired for teaching early education classes in various educational institutions of the city, he highlighted in the reply. He said that in order to improve teaching skills of the teachers, the training wing of the FDE had arranged training workshops for them from time to time in collaboration with non-governmental organisations (NGOs), national as well as international.
Barrister Usman further stated that so far 775 English teachers have been trained in this regard at elementary and secondary levels to meet the target of proficiency in English language teaching in their institutions. He further told the Senate that like other departments in the educational institutions the FDE has introduced the computer studies as compulsory subject at the elementary level, set up fully equipped computer labs in all institutions and a trained computer teaching faculty is supervising them. In order to improve their teaching skills, the training wing has recently trained 200 computer teachers in collaboration with Intel Education, he said in his reply.
