Skilled youth to benefit from zakat funds
RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has decided to provide financial assistance to deserving and technically skilled youth from zakat funds to start business, sources said.
A source in the District Administration said that the decision has been taken on the proposal of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairman Irfan Qasier, who had floated the idea that most poor and deserving students opt out after getting technical training owing to financial constraints. He had proposed that if the beneficiaries were provided to the deserving students from Zakat funds, they will be able to start their own business while banking on the training they have got from different Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority institutes.
The source said that the provincial government has approved the proposal and soon the deserving skilled youth will get financial help to get start their business.
The scheme will only be offered to fresh alumnae, who will start their business at a small level, added sources.
The idea behind the proposal was to overcome the issue of joblessness and to make the most of the training they get at Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority institutes, added Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority chairman.
