NGO opens 12th school for slum children
LAHORE: Door of Awareness (DoA), a non-government organization, opened its 12th centre, Asghar Memorial School, to provide free education and vocational training to the children from under privileged segments of the society, on Monday.
Ruba Humayun, chairperson DoA, presided over the function while Rehmatullah Javed, chairman, Executive Youth Forum and Shafqat Mehmood, MNA were the chief guests. Guests of Honour included Naseem Kausar Asghar, Saima Asghar Riaz, Faisal Ali Asghar,Imran Ali Asghar and Dr Huma Ali Asghar. The school is sponsored by family of Nami Asghar in memory of Late Asghar Hussain to provide free education and vocational training including stitching courses, IT courses. Mobile phone and UPS repair courses for children and adults from slums.
Rehmatullah Javed addressing the ceremony, appreciated the role of DoA in providing education and vocational training to those segments of society which were neglected since last many decades. He stressed upon the philanthropists to come forward to take such initiatives for the welfare of the poor people and enable them to participate in the national development.
MNA Shafqat Mehmood said that every citizen should play his due role to give hope of life to those people who had no access to the basic needs for life like education and health. He said this initiative would bring change in the life of the children from the poor class. Prof MA Rufruf, chief advisor DoA, hosted the ceremony while the students of DOA performed various skit.
