Islamabad - The CCTV cameras aimed at enhancing security at federal educational institutes could not be installed even after six month’s time, since the tragic incident of Army Public School, Peshawar.
Though the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) recently ordered release of requisite funds to educational institutes to get close-circuit cameras and other gadgets, most education institutes have so far failed to get the cameras installed.
Earlier, tenders had been issued seeking bids from firms to get the gadgets installed at education institutions but the tenders were revoked.
Later, it was decided that the education institutes themselves would install the CCTV cameras and other security gadgets.
During a survey of many schools, it transpired that many of the institutes have yet to install the CCTV cameras and they were in the process of finalizing arrangements to put in place a security regime.
Many educations institutes have no boundary walls and installation of security cameras will be a futile exercise unless the building were fully secured by constructing boundary walls.
Many students and teachers told Online that they were exposed to several threats in the absence of boundary walls and security guards and CCTV cameras.
When contacted, an official of the FDE said that raids would be conducted to ensure that all education institutes have installed security gadgets.
The official admitted that many schools were functioning without boundary walls.
Meanwhile, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has failed to devise a service structure for female teachers of junior section of model colleges.
Applications and fillies have been pending for long with the FDE, requesting formulation of promotion criteria but no progress has been made to sort out the issue, causing frustration among the female teachers.
A number of teachers, who spoke to Online, said that the service criteria were in place for the teachers of senior section but the junior section has been deprived of the criteria.
Majority of the teachers of junior section said that they are recruited in BPS-16 and retire in the same grade without getting any promotion.
The female teachers have urged the government to immediately devise a promotion formula for he female teachers of junior section teaching in model colleges.
They have demanded of Minister State for Capital Administration and Development Division Usman Ibrahim to take notice of the issue and issue necessary orders in this regard.
