LAHORE - The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has planned to benefit from the database of Nadra to verify antecedents of parents/guardians of students in the private schools partnering with different free educational programs of the Punjab Education Foundation.
This will help to maintain consummate transparency and credibility of the PEF sponsored free educational programs for the needy kids.
This was stated by PEF Chairman Engineer Qamarul Islam Raja while addressing the school partners' meeting at Al-Hamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium on Thursday. School partners from different districts as well as concerned PEF officials also attended the meeting.
Chairman PEF said that public private partnership based Foundation Assisted School program is a flagship initiative which has helped the needy students to access their fundamental right of education. It is satisfying to note that PEF is shouldering the free education of 1.7 million needy students and the total number will soon encompass about 2 million under the umbrella of Punjab Education Foundation.
He said that the Foundation is committed to help the needy children in their studies; and for this purpose, free educational programs are continuously expanded, every year, so that such children could be empowered through pen and book in their tender hands.
He announced to fully exploit the platform of Directorate of Staff Development for the capacity building training of partner school teachers on modern lines. Similarly, financial support to the needy partners, through some development financial institutions, is also being contemplated so as to strengthen them.
He expressed the hope that the proficient use of information and communication technologies (ICT) will help the school partners as PEF has started using different ICTs to further improve its system. The function was also addressed by PEF Director Iftikhar Rabbani and others. Different school partners also spoke on the occasion.
