Study tour: position-holder students leave for Europe
A delegation of position-holder students has left for a study tour to Europe under the flagship programme of the Punjab Chief Minister. Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan saw the delegation off at the Lahore Airport. The delegation will visit 22 universities in Britain, Sweden and Germany.
In a speech, the minister said, "Toppers are real ambassadors of Pakistan. Pakistan is facing multiple challenges like inflation, unemployment, power and terror whereas education is the best remedy for all these problems ... The allocation of 27 percent amount of budget for the education sector is a manifestation of this fact that provision of quality education is top priority of the Punjab government."
He then claimed that new schools, colleges and universities would be set up during the next financial year and that missing facilities would be provided in the existing educational institutions. "The Punjab CM has set a tremendous tradition to present a guard of honour to position holders. A notification about tax on the Internet has been issued but the chief minister got it cancelled since the Internet is a must for educational needs," he added.
