A young professional from Hunza made it to Harvard University and graduated with accolades from there and a young student from Yasin valley is studyng at Oxford University. A determined engineer from Ghanche attendeded Geogia Tech and likewise, another determined daughter of Gojal (upper Hunza) is pursuing her doctrate degree at Oxford University. Every year a score of young students and professionals from different regions of Gilgit Baltistan avail Fulbright, Ausaid, Commonwealth and other scholarships for their maters and  PhD programs. Many young professionals from Skardu, Gilgit, Astore, Diamar and Ghizar have been chasing different opportunities and showing extra-ordinary performances nationally and internationally in their curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities; are some of the many good news that amaze us all and become music to our ears. In a series of the success stories, we introduce to you Kaka Jan, a young professional through the Dardistan Times.
Kaka Jan, a graduate from Gilgit, Pakistan, received a double distinction in his MA Education  and Master of Teaching (MTeach) degree as well as the Outstanding Student award for his exceptional performance during the two year programme from the Institute of Education-University College London (IOE-UCL).
Kaka Jan hails from Hundur, Yasin, Ghizar. He completed his initial schooling from Government Middle school Hundur. After completing his intermediate from degree college Gilgit, he joined the Aga Khan Education Service as a teacher initially. Kaka Jan won two scholarships from the same organization for his professional studies and after completing his Master of Education (M.Ed) degree from Notre Dame Institute of Education (NDIE), Karachi, Pakistan, he worked as a Senior Teacher Educator and Academic Coordinator with the same organization.
Thereafter, he joined Karakorum International University, Gilgit  as an assistant professor in the department of educational development and worked there for a couple of years. In 2012, he won the scholarship from the Institute of Ismaili Studies London for the Secondary Teacher Education Programme at IOE-UCL and completed it with double distinctions with an Outstanding Students’ award. During his studies, he also published two research papers in a national and international journal.
Kaka Jan is currently working with the community-based schools as an educator and wants to transform the secondary schooling system in Gilgit-Baltistan. He believes that educational practices especially at the secondary level can only be transformed by closely working with the youth to enhance their reflective, research and independent thinking skills. Using these skills, they can add their own understanding to the body of knowledge in the subject area they study.  
He believes that great successes can only be achieved through continuous learning, re-skilling ourselves and making ourselves well aware of the cutting-edge research studies in our fields. Academically challenging environment can stir the potentialities among the youths.
