Private schools flouting govt orders: EDO

FAISALABAD:
Some private schools in Faisalabad are flouting government instructions to shut down on June 1 and not collect fees for the three-month break, said Education EDO Bashir Zahid on Monday.
Talking to The Express Tribune, he said the department had received a number of complaints against private schools in this regard.
“We have a plan to take action against administrations of these schools,” he said. He said education officers had been tasked to compile reports on schools that had not shut down on June 1 before action could be taken in this regard.
Talking to The Express Tribune, All Pakistan Private Schools Alliance chairman Rana Tahir Saleem said the education EDO was harassing small private schools.
“All big private schools are collecting three-month fees from their students.”
He said managements of small schools needed the fees to pay salaries to the teachers.
“If the Education Department is sympathetic, it should provide funds to small private schools,” he said.
