Girls school runs sans facilities amid tall claims
LAYYAH- The tall claims made by successive governments to raise education standards in the province have turned out to be hollow as majority of the educational institutions in the district, especially in rural areas, lacked basic facilities like fans, air-coolers and cold drinking water in the prevailing scorching summer.
With the temperature soaring high, besides extensive electricity loadshedding and water shortage, the schoolchildren are faced with tough time these days. Even the bottled water carried by children from their houses to quench their thirst at school gets warmed due to scorching heat. The areas where most of government schools lack basic facilities include government middle girls school Chak-154/TDA and so many other areas.
Government middle girls school Chak-154/TDA have no boundary wall and other basic facilities.
More than 350 girl students are enrolled in the school but there is no furniture forthem. No electricity, no cold water facility is available for students and teachers. Due to the unavailability of boundary wall teachers and students feel unsafe.
Talking to this scribe, school Headmistress Mrs Salahia said that she had written to the district education department in which she had about informed the bad condition of the school and lack of basic facilities. She said that parents did not send children to school due the unavailability of boundary wall.
On the other hand, EDO Education Tahria Shafique Chshti denied and said that the department had not been informed about missing facilities in the school. She said that she would visit the school and take steps for the provision of missing facilities.
