Commercialisation of education
I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the commercialized system of education in Pakistan. Educated, skilled and hard working people are the biggest and invaluable asset of any country and Pakistan is not an exception. The countries, which have attained the status of development economics, owe much to these attributes. One of the reasons for the current dismal state of affairs in Pakistan continues to be the apathy of the successive Governments which did not realize the importance of education and vocational training.
The present situation can be attributed to a number of factors in the prevailing commercialized system. Neither do the teachers want to teach, nor are the students interested in getting education. Teaching has become a ritual and students come to educational institutions only to enjoy and then get degrees. The curriculum and textbooks are in language of aliens and students are granted and awarded degrees on one basis - how good parrots are they. Most of the teachers teach from books, which are decades old and have no relevance with the current time. The lack of interest on the part of the students and attitude of the parents towards education and the educators, even discourage those instructors who are serious in disseminating knowledge. It is the need of the day for the concerned authorities to take some serious thinking on this matter to get better and fruitful steps.
